Health Insurance: Osun Governor, Adeleke Enrolls Over 1,000 Inmates OPEYEMI AKINYEMI, OSOGBO  In a step to deepen access to quality healthcare delivery for all residents, the Osun State Government has announced the free enrollment of inmates in correctional centres across the state into the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS). Tops-Newstimes reports that 1,100 inmates are to benefit from the gesture. The Executive Secretary of the Osun Health Insurance Agency (OSHIA), Dr. Rasaq Akindele, disclosed this on Tuesday during a press conference in Osogbo, describing the initiative as part of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s drive to make healthcare a fundamental right for every resident of the state. Lady Dies After Arriving Boyfriend’s House In Osun

Tragedy struck as a young lady, identified as Bidemi Omole, suddenly died in the house of her boyfriend, Yinka, in Esa-Oke town in Osun State. The incident occurred around 9:30 pm on Friday, August 22, 2025. Bidemi, it was gathered after arriving at her boyfriend’s house on Friday evening, suddenly took ill and died shortly after. The incident, which occurred around 9:30 pm, it was learnt, threw the community into panic, as many residents reportedly thronged the house of the suspect in Oke Esa Area, as soon as the news of the death spread. A resident of the neighbourhood, who simply identified as Taye, said the deceased died not long after she arrived at her boyfriend’s house. She added, “We heard the cry for help and we all ran towards Yinka’s house. Police Nab Suspected Ritual Killers in Ikire, Osun State The Osun State Police Command has arrested eight individuals suspected of involvement in a ritual killing attempt in Ikire. According to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the incident occurred on July 26, 2025, at about 4:00 p.m., when three young men identified as Ismail Abiodun, 22; Usman Ademola, 22; and 16-year-old Faruq Abudu went to cut grass at Arademi Area, Ikire.  After the work, Abiodun and Ademola allegedly lured Faruq into a remote bush, attacked him, and cut open his abdomen in an attempt to remove vital organs. The suspects reportedly removed the victim’s scrotum but fled when he raised an alarm. Police officers arrived promptly at the scene, rescued the injured teenager, and rushed him to a hospital before he was referred to the University College Hospital for further treatment. Ekiti Monarch, Alara of Aramoko joins his Ancestors

The Alara of Aramoko Ekiti in Ekiti West local government of Ekiti State, Oba Olu Adegoke Adeyemi, has died  at the age of 82. His death was contained in a statement by his family. The statement added, “The late monarch was celebrated for his “remarkable leadership, wisdom, and dedication to the welfare of his people.”   The family described his reign as a period marked by unity, cultural preservation, and steady development. Born on December 4, 1942, Oba Adeyemi’s life was defined by service in multiple capacities. He began as a teacher, later rose through the ranks as a senior civil servant, and served as Sole Administrator of the former Ifesowapo Local Government. His commitment to community growth continued after he ascended the throne in 2009. During his time as Chancellor of Ekiti State University, the late Oba championed projects aimed at improving educational standards and expanding access for local students.
