Osun Govt Appoints New Akire Of Ikire, Others

The Osun state government has approved the appointment of Prince Tajudeen Olanrewaju as the new Akire of Ikire following the demise of Oba Olatunde Falabi, Lambeloye III on 27th February, 2026. This was contained in a press statement signed by Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment,Kolapo Alimi, make available to newsmen on Friday. According to Alimi, “At a State Executive Council meeting held today at Osogbo, the council presided over by Governor Ademola Adeleke, deliberated on the detailed memo submitted by the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and approved the recommendations in line with extant laws and terms of settlement agreed to by the five Ruling Houses.” The Commissioner explained that “the stool of Akire of Ikire generated crisis in the year 2021 over the Supreme Court Judgment of 2014 which affirmed that Lambeloye Ruling House that produced Oba Olatunde Falabi had no legal right to occupy the stool of Akire of Ikire as at the time it did wh...
