EFCC Arrests 49 Suspected Internet Fraudster With Loaded Pistol

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), Ilorin Zonal office have arrested 49 suspected internet Fraudsters operating in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital. According to the EFCC, the 49 suspected internet Fraudster were arrested between Saturday, May 24, 2025 and Sunday, May 25, 2025, following actionable intelligence that linked them to fraudulent internet activities. The commission explained that the operations targeted multiple hideouts across Lokoja with an unlicenced loaded pistol recovered from one of the suspects, who claimed during preliminary interrogation that he was a former cult member. Other items recovered from the suspects included high-end smartphones, laptops, computers and two luxury vehicles. The EFCC said the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.

Shadow government: Court orders service of court papers on Utomi in Lago

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered service of court documents on the 2007 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Patrick Utomi in relation to a suit against him, over his announced plan to establish a shadow government in the country. Justice James Omotosho granted an ex-parte motion filed by Akinlolu Kehinde, SAN, for the  Department of State Services, DSS, for an order allowing service of court documents on Utomi, listed as the sole defendant, in his Lagos address by means of courier service. Justice Omotosho however adjourned to June 25 for hearing, before which Utomi is expected to have filed his defence. In a suit instituted on May 13, the DSS has accused Prof. Utomi of attempting to illegally usurp the executive powers of President Bola Tinubu, telling the court that his action was capable of destabilising the country as it was intended to create chaos. The Federal High Court has again cautioned Aloy Ejimakor, a member of Nnamdi Kanu’s defense team and others who are in the habit of posting live streams and Court documents on the social media. ‎Justice James Omotosho put out the warning following a protest against the request made by Kanu's family for live streaming, contained in a letter by the federal government lawyer, Adegboyega Awomolo SAN.
