‎AN OPEN LETTER TO THE FIRST LADY OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, ‎HER EXCELLENCY, SENATOR OLUREMI TINUBU, CON

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE FIRST LADY OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA,
‎HER EXCELLENCY, SENATOR OLUREMI TINUBU, CON
‎Your Excellency,
‎As concerned citizens of Osun State, we feel obligated to voice our collective displeasure over a matter that has deeply unsettled many of our people. We hold your esteemed office in high regard, especially as the wife of the President and the newly installed Yeye Asiwaju Oodua, a prestigious honour bestowed upon you by the Ooni of Ife, Osun State. It is on this basis that we believe this message deserves your kind attention.
‎With keen and unbiased minds, the indigenes of Osun State were dismayed and dissatisfied over what appeared to be a disruption caused by Your Excellency during the recently concluded 10th Anniversary Celebration of the coronation of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II. The event was a cultural gathering of dignity, reverence and tradition, which made the incident even more concerning to many who witnessed or followed the proceedings.
‎As keen watchers of public conduct and custodians of the Omoluabi values, we observed what many interpreted as an uncultured and avoidable interruption during the ceremony. Your Excellency, while we acknowledge your national prominence, we also believe that all dignitaries present especially the sitting Governor of our state deserve respect and honour. Governor Ademola Adeleke is not a toddler, nor is he a figure to be casually dismissed. At his age and in his position as the Executive Governor of Osun State, decorum demands that he be addressed with the same dignity accorded to other leaders.
‎As people deeply rooted in Yoruba culture and the ethos of Omoluabi, we have grown increasingly concerned about the repeated public disregard shown towards our Governor. Your distinguished career as a former federal lawmaker and your present standing as the Mother of the Nation naturally place upon you the responsibility of modelling humility, respect and restraint especially towards constituted authorities.
‎We strongly believe that your new role as Yeye Asiwaju Oodua further elevates your cultural duties. This title signifies leadership, maturity and the expectation to unify, uplift and embody the values of the Yoruba people. It is therefore disheartening when actions or conduct appear contrary to these expectations.
‎This letter is not written to provoke conflict but to appeal to your conscience as a mother, leader and respected national figure. We are confident that this message will be received in good faith and will inspire greater harmony and mutual respect in future engagements particularly within Osun State, where you now hold a revered traditional title.
‎We remain hopeful that this incident will serve as a point of reflection and that Your Excellency will continue to lead with dignity, grace and the true spirit of a mother of the nation.
‎Respectfully,
‎Concerned Citizens of Osun State
