Osun Mining Dispute: State Gov't Moves to Resolve Shareholding Interest Disagreement

Osun state Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke stated that he is optimistic that delegation of federal government will conduct an impartial review to address legitimate concerns of the state government disputes over shareholding interest in Segilola Mining Company.
The Governor said this during a courtesy visit by the delegation of Federal government led by the Director from the Federal Ministry of Solid minerals, Engineer Ganiyu Imam.
Governor Adeleke who was represented by his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi reiterated that the request of the state government to segilola Resources Operating Limited is to comply within legality as guaranteed by the constitution and extant laws to pay redeemable shares of the state in the company.
"We are not querying the federal government, all we ask is just what belongs to us in Osun state. Segilola shareholding, we are part of the ownership of the company, so give us what belong to us." He added
Speaking also, Engineer Ganiyu Imam Director of the Federal Ministry of Solid minerals Development noted that the Technical committee constituted by the Minister is to resolve disputes between Segilola mining company and the Osun State government, adding that the committee has gathered their report.
He, however promised to brief the outcome of the meeting to the appropriate authority.
