Alleged Cybercrime: Court Grants Sowore Bail, Bars Him From Inciting Public Against Tinubu

Justice Mohammed Umar of the Abuja Federal High Court on Tuesday granted Omoyele Sowore bail on self-recognition, cautioning him to refrain from making any utterances that could incite the public against President Tinubu. Sowore’s bail followed his arraignment by the Department of State Services (DSS) before the court on a five-count charge bordering on alleged cybercrime. In the five-count charge, Sowore is accused of allegedly making derogatory remarks about President Tinubu on his social media handles. Sowore, who is the convener of the the convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, pleaded not guilty to the charges after they were read to him. Earlier in the proceedings, his counsel, Marshall Abubakar, had raised a motion challenging the competence of the suit, arguing that the court lacked jurisdiction. The National Working Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to Governor Seyi Makinde has declared Olugbenga Adebayo as the winner of the party’s 2025 governorship primary election in Osun State. Amidst an ongoing internal crisis within the national leadership of PDP, the party conducted its gubernatorial primary election today in Osogbo, the state capital. The primary election was initially scheduled to hold at Atlantis Multipurpose Hall, Ring Road, but was later relocated to Adolak Event Hall, Ogooluwa, in Osogbo due to undisclosed reasons. Accreditation of delegates from the 31 Local Government Areas including Modakeke Area Office began around 11:00 a.m. with 957 delegates fully accredited out of the 990 expected to participate in the primary election. The party’s primary election was held amidst tight security. Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has resigned his membership of the People's Democratic Party(PDP) since November 4th, 2025. The letter was addressed to the PDP Chairman for ward 2, Sagba Abogunde of  Ede North Local government, Osun State. The development followed a formal letter dated 4 November 2025 and addressed to the Chairman of the PDP in Sagba Abogunde Ward 2, Ede North Local Government. The governor, in the letter written on the official letterhead of the Office of the Governor, said he was withdrawing from the party with immediate effect. The Nigeria Defence Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has resigned his appointment, with immediate effect. Abubakar in a letter dated December 1, sent to President Bola Tinubu, said he was quitting on health grounds. According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the resignation was accepted by President Tinubu. He noted that the President Tinubu accepted the resignation and thanked Abubakar for his services to the nation. Badaru Abubakar, 63, was a two-term governor of Jigawa state from 2015 to 2023. He was appointed as a minister on August 21, 2023, by President Tinubu.  His resignation comes amid President Tinubu’s declaration of a national security emergency, with plans to elaborate on its scope in due course. At the time of filing this report, the presidency has not announced his replacement. END
