OSUN: PDP Receive Scores of APC Members in Irewole LG, Ikire

 



The People's Democratic Party, Osun state chapter on Saturday received hundreds of decampees from the main opposition party, All Progressive Congress ( APC).

While receiving the new members in Irewole Local Government, Ikire, Osun state, Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate and Senator representing Osun West at the senate, Akogun Lere Oyewumi joyfully decorated and urged them to continue the good work.

In his address, Senator Oyewumi explained that the new members joined willingly with a personal conviction after witnessing the good work of Governor Adeleke which is obvious in every part of Ikire and Osun state as a whole

 He added that will be no need to campaign for next election because people have tasted the difference between APC and PDP and they're ready to work with the party that suit them.

His words, I was in Abuja when the party chairman, our candidate for Chairmanship and state honourable called me on phone to speak with different people even though most of them I've spoken to them before to join our party. 

"So I came home about two weeks ago and we held almost 10 meetings. I was surprised because this is just one local government, most of them was with us before, before they head to APC, so I believe it's a self conviction.

"They've see the good work that the Governor is doing across the state, the little we are able to do and different projects from our Honorables attracted them to come back to PDP. 

"I gave them the assurance that if they join and they work more than when they were in APC, they will enjoy more. This is just Irewole LG, I am going to do same thing in Iwo tomorrow, I'm going to Aiyedire LG on Monday, I don't mix LG together.

" People have tasted PDP, they have tasted APC, we don't need to campaign, so they've decided the one that suit them.The people you're seeing here are grassroots mobilizer

"Adeleke has campaign for himself, he has not spend two years but he has done a lot in Ikire alone, he has tarred 100kilometres of road , he has completed about 5 secondary school and has renovated health centers among others, people are not ingrate, they can see. People are ready to pay him back." He added

He, however advised the new members not to relax, and not be lazy, for them to enjoy your their labor in PDP.

While speaking with our correspondent, One of the decampees, Mr Mustapha Ismaheel stated that for 12 years there was no development in Irewole LG until PDP came into government.

"My former party was APC, during that time there's no development in our LG, even in rural areas there was no development but we noticed when PDP and Akogun took over everything we've not seen before we're seeing them from road construction to good electricity, water supply among others.

" Today we're celebrating that leaders from APC are crossing to PDP God has answered our prayer in Irewole LG, May God help him more." He prayed.

In an interview with newsmen, Elder Sunday Solooye stated that he joined PDP because despite working for APC for 14 years he suffered so much and APC leaders are self centered
