INEC declares APC candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa winner of Ondo governorship election.

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been declared the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
The INEC Returning Officer for the election, Professor Durotimi Akinwumi, made the declaration at exactly 2:40 pm at the State Collation Centre in Akure Ondo State on Sunday
Professor Akinwumi, a professor and vice-chancellor of the Federal University of Lokoja, Kogi State, announced the final results after collating results from the 18 local government areas of the state.
The returning officer said Mr Aiyedatiwa polled 366,781 votes to defeat his closest challenger and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Agboola Ajayi, who scored 117,845 votes.
The candidate of the Zenith Labour Party ZLP Mimiko Olubamidele, came a distant third with 2,692 votes.
“That Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the APC, having satisfied all the requirements of law and scored majority of the lawful votes, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” Professor Akinwumi declared.
The final results showed that Lucky Aiyedatiwa won in 18 local government areas in the state while Agboola Ajayi did not win in any of the Local Government Areas.
