Police officers get injured as patrol vehicle crashes into residential building while escaping from thugs in Niger State.

The spokesman of the Niger State Police Command, Superintendent Wasi'u Abiodun, has confirmed that one of its operational patrol vehicles has crashed into a residential building at Angwan-Kaje, in the Maitumbi Area, within the metropolis.

Abiodun says, the incident occurred around 9:30 pm on Monday, when miscreants and thugs, armed with stones and other dangerous weapons, launched an assault on one of the "Operation Flush" patrol vehicles.

It was gathered that the driver, in an attempt to escape the attack, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a nearby residential property, causing major damage.

The police image maker added that reinforcements were dispatched to the area to restore order.

He said the policemen who sustained minor injuries were being treated.

He said that the Divisional Police Officer of Maitumbi is handling the issue, and efforts are underway to arrest the people who attacked the police officers while on duty.
