OSUN 2026 ELECTION: SEN. OMOWORARE DECLARES INTEREST IN GOVERNORSHIP RACE, PLEDGES UNITY, PROSPERITY FOR THE PARTY

Former Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate) and former lawmaker who represented osun east senatorial district at the National Assembly, Senator Babajide Omoworare has officially joined Osun 2026 governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress APC.
 
Senator omoworare made this declaration in Ile-Ife at a special engagement where he was received by supporters, political associates, and members of the APC across the three senatorial senatorial district in the state.

The former lawmaker, said his decision to run for the governorship race is driven by the desire to restore purposeful leadership and usher in a government of prosperity for the people of the state where he also criticized what he described as misplaced of priorities by the current administration, stating that constructing bridges without quality access roads is not an achievement. 

He also dismissed salary payments as a true measure of performance, insisting that governance must translate into visible transformation and improved living standards.

Omoworare called on the APC to prioritize merit, urging party leaders to remain neutral and ensure a level playing field for all aspirants. According to him, the party must choose a candidate not based on favoritism or zoning, but on capacity and wide acceptability that can lead the APC to victory in 2026.

"By the grace of God come 2026, I will be the Governor of osun state. I didn't start politics yesterday and I never lost any election before and I realized the fact it's only God giveth only God makes a leader I normally say that in every instance, that power moves it takes a confluence of forces terrestrial and forces telestial to agree on a Man's fortune."

"God has never come to the earth to make a leader before, God uses people and there are people in our party that God will use by the grace of God, but preparedness, we have prepared what we will do policy wise, we have prepared, we want to run a prosperous government, we want to run a government that is not a mediocre government, we want to run a government that is extremely the exterious of administrative skills".

"Agriculture and food security is not in the exclusive list of the Nigeria constitution, land users has even given a land to the state government and not federal government and very few state government are into agriculture and food security, we will attack the land belonging to the government and produce food. There are farm settlement across the osun state that are almost going moribund" Omoworare said.

Omoworare stressed that "fixing rural community roads will improve the food economy, he promised to bring his experience in legislature and governance to bear in addressing pressing needs across the state".

The former senator joined a growing list of APC aspirants, including the party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru and the Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, Bola Oyebamiji who had earlier  shown interest.
