Osun Govt Denies Receiving N1 Trillion Allocation, Says APC’s Claim is Fake News
The Osun State Government has dismissed as false and misleading a claim by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that Governor Ademola Adeleke has received and mismanaged N1 trillion in state allocations since 2022.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Spokesperson to the Governor, Olawale Rasheed
, described the APC’s allegation as “a devilish fabrication and mischievous propaganda” aimed at discrediting the administration’s achievements.
Rasheed said the state government has not received anything close to N1 trillion in allocation and accused the opposition of "running out of ideas" following its declining popularity in the state.
He outlined Governor Adeleke’s achievements in critical sectors including health, infrastructure, education, cooperative empowerment, agriculture, and pension management, stressing that state funds have been judiciously utilized to meet the needs of citizens.
"Only an anti-people party will claim not to see the 322 kilometers of roads, 200 renovated health centres, over 100 rehabilitated schools, flyover bridges, and the upgrading of the Osogbo Stadium to a five-star standard," Rasheed said.
He further noted that the Adeleke administration has paid off salary arrears and pension debts neglected by the previous APC government and enrolled more than 30,000 pensioners into the state health insurance scheme, a policy he said was later adopted by the Federal Government.
Rasheed also stated that Osun’s debt profile has been reduced by 40 percent without any new borrowing since 2022, adding that the governor does not collect security votes and ensures transparency in all government spending.
According to him, despite the "illegal seizure" of local government funds by the opposition, the state government continues to shoulder local government financial obligations to prevent hardship among workers.
Highlighting the administration’s impact, Rasheed said Osun now ranks seventh nationally in NECO results , a significant improvement from 33rd under the APC and has reduced its infrastructure deficit by 40 percent.
"Pensioners, workers, farmers, and artisans are applauding the governor daily. The APC should at least be silent and allow Osun people to enjoy good governance," the statement concluded.
