Ejigbo Gbagede Oba Festival: My Govt Will Support Community Development If Elected — ADC Govship Candidate, Najeem Salam

The Annual Gbagede Oba Festival in Ejigbo, Osun State, is gradually gaining wider popularity and acceptance among indigenes of the town, as it continues to strengthen cultural identity and community participation.

Many Travelled from within and outside Nigeria to attend the event which as become a unifying platform for cultural celebration and communal development.

By paying homage to the Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Omowonuola Oyeyede Oyesosin, participants from various groups, associations, and family compounds turned out in colourful traditional attire, showcasing their rich cultural heritage, unity, and collective commitment to the socio-economic development of Ejigbo.

The traditional ruler of the town, Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Omowonuola Oyeyede Oyesosin, who spoke in Yoruba, expressed delight at the impressive turnout and the growing relevance of the celebration.

The African Democratic Congress {ADC} governorship candidate, Najeem Salam, who is the son of the soil, also outlined his vision for the state.

“As Olu Omo of Ejigbo, governorship ambition is for the entire state. For somebody to become an Olu Omo of the town, you should know that at all time, the person must strive for the development of the town."

“It will be my joy if people come together and rally round for the development of our area. As a governorship candidate, my vision is not only for Ejigbo but for the entire state at large. However, Ejigbo will not be left out in the process of that development,”

“It is something we need to support when people willingly come together for the development of their area. I believe they deserve the support of government. My government, if I have the opportunity, will support any town that engages in community development programmes,” Najeem Salam said.

APC House of Representatives Candidate for Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo Federal Constituency, David Ayodele Asalu, pledged to prioritise education, workers' welfare and human capital development if elected in the forthcoming election.

Beyond this, stakeholders in the town including the Chairman Local Organizing Committee, Olayide Raji, are calling for the state government's intervention in the development of an accessible road network and infrastructure projects that will boost education development.

The 2026 third edition of the Gbagede Oba of Ejigbo festival was a vibrant and colourful affair, featuring rich cultural displays, dramatic performances, and a variety of entertainment activities that highlighted the community’s heritage and unity.
