Tajudeen Oladipupo Receives Award as UCSS Alumni Mark Golden Jubilee, Multimillion-Naira Projects Commissioned



Former Teacher of United Christian Secondary School, Omi-Adio, Ibadan, Mr. Tajudeen Oladipupo, has been honoured with an Award of Excellence for his outstanding performance as a teacher in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

He was honoured alongside other distinguished former teachers, including Mr. Obi, Mr. Bankole and Madam Omilabu, at the Golden Jubilee celebration of the school held in Omi-Adio, Ibadan.

It was a historic homecoming on Saturday, September 19, 2026, as old students, retired teachers and dignitaries converged on the premises of United Christian Secondary School (UCSS), Omi-Adio, Ibadan, to mark the 50th anniversary of its Founders' Day.

Established by the United Christians of Omi-Adio on land donated by a Muslim family in Abidogun community, the school was upgraded from a modern school to a secondary school in 1976 before its eventual takeover by the Oyo State Government alongside other mission schools.

The Golden Jubilee reunion offered alumni spanning five decades an opportunity to reconnect, reflect and give back to their alma mater.

Highpoint of the celebration was the commissioning of a fully renovated block of four classrooms, two administrative offices and two restrooms by the United Christian Secondary School Alumni Association (UCSSAA).

Speaking at the event, the National President of UCSSAA, Builder Asimiyu Towolawi Bashir Segun, said the project is the association's first major structural intervention, aimed at providing a dignified and conducive learning environment for students.

He noted that the block holds historical significance as the first structure built by the founding fathers before government intervention.

Beyond infrastructure, he disclosed that the association has funded full West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) scholarships for six indigent students and introduced welfare initiatives for members.

"In the last 50 years, this is the first time we are having a gathering of this scale. Bringing our members together from across the country is immensely fulfilling," Bashir said.

In his remarks, the General Secretary and Chairman, Board of Trustees of the association, Pastor Folorunso Adeniyi Adesina, said the unification of all class sets started in 2016 when he rallied the pioneer and other sets to form a single body instead of operating individually. He said the effort culminated in the 2021 reunion and the Golden Jubilee celebration.

He pledged the association's continuous support for the growth of the school and urged parents and guardians to be more involved in monitoring their wards.

Commissioning the project, the member representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency and APC candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District in the 2027 elections, Hon. Remi Oseni, lauded the alumni for their commitment, describing UCSS, Omi-Adio as one of the premier schools in the axis with a proud record of producing distinguished leaders.

Representing the Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Segun Olayiwola, the Zonal Director, Ibadan Zone 3, Mrs. Victoria Oloyede, commended the alumni for championing community-led development and reaffirmed Governor Seyi Makinde's commitment to quality education.

The anniversary also featured an awards ceremony where 30 individuals were honoured for their contributions, including former Commissioner for Education, Prof. Joseph Olowofela; Pastor Folorunso Adeniyi Adesina; Rev. Adegboyega Abifarin; Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi; Prof. Muideen Oladipupo; Prof. Oladepo Patrick Oyeniyi; Alhaji Lukman Oladapo and Ayoade Adedokun. Opoola Kehinde Olamiposi was recognised as the best-performing student in the 2025 WASSCE.

Other highlights included free medical outreach for the community, empowerment for widows and the inauguration of the newly elected executive council.

The National Youth Service Corps has announced a change in the orientation schedule for prospective corps members deployed to Enugu and Osun states for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II exercise. Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, has announced his resignation from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, bringing an abrupt end to his long political association with the party. The development followed a formal letter dated 4 November 2025 and addressed to the Chairman of the PDP in Sagba Abogunde Ward 2, Ede North Local Government. The governor, in the letter written on the official letterhead of the Office of the Governor, said he was withdrawing from the party with immediate effect.
