CRIME: OSUN NSCDC PARADES FIVE SUSPECTED ILLEGAL MINERS. By Opeyemi Akinyemi  Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC has paraded five suspects involving in illegal mining activities at the mining site in Ilesa, Osun State. During a press briefing at the command headquarters in Osogbo, the Osun State Capital, the Corps Commandant, Kayode Sotiyo stated that the suspects were apprehended for engaging in illegal mining without the necessary mining licenses. The suspects who hail from Kano State, were discovered at a mining site in Ilesa where they were violating the Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act of 2007. The NSCDC Commandant stated that any mining activity must be conducted with a valid mining lease or permit as specified in Section 2 of the act. In a separate case, the NSCDC also paraded a 34-year-old man named Akeju Abiodun, who was arrested for theft. Former Chairman of the Lagos State Council of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Musiliu Akinsanya has been unanimously elected as the new national President of the NURTW.
