Former Teacher of United Christian Secondary School, Omi-Adio, Ibadan, Mr. Tajudeen Oladipupo, has been honoured with an Award of Excellence for his outstanding performance as a teacher in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Opeyemi Akinyemi, Osogbo  Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has travelled to the United Kingdom for medical check-ups as part of his vacation, following his victory in the August 15, 2026 governorship election in the state. Governor Adeleke secured re-election as Governor of the State, defeating his closest challenger, according to results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Adeleke polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes. The result gives Adeleke a winning margin of 66,252 votes over Oyebamiji based on the figures announced from the 30 local government areas. Opeyemi Akinyemi, Osogbo  The Osun State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with Monday’s attack in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area, which resulted in the death of two civilians and left some police officers injured. The suspects are: Sikiru Ademola Adedeji, 21 years, Olalere Taiwo, 21, Olalere Ademola, 26 and Bankole Abiodun, 20 years. Parding the suspects at the Police Headquarters in Osogbo, the state capital, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, said the Divisional Police Officer Ikire division and his men responded swiftly to a distress call at Naira & Kobo area of Ikire when a group of about 30 armed hoodlums attacked them. President Bola Tinubu has appointed former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, as the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the January 2027 elections. Yari’s appointment was contained in the list of members of the APC Presidential Campaign Council released on Saturday, August 22, 2026. President Tinubu will serve as chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will be the vice chairman. The Commissioner of Police in charge of Osun governorship election, Samuel Erale Etaifo, on Wednesday disclosed that no fewer than 15,000 personnel had been deployed for the conduct of the August 15 gubernatorial poll in the state. He explained that his earlier redeployment for the exercise followed mounting tension and violence in the state, which had culminated in attacks and gruesome killings in some parts of the state. Etaifo, who spoke during a session with some police personnel deployed for the election, at Police Officers Mess in Osogbo, however, cautioned them against any act capable of compromising the conduct of the exercise. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will conduct a mock accreditation exercise on Saturday, August 1, 2026, as part of preparations for the August 15 Osun State governorship election. According to a public announcement signed by Ariyo Rufus, Head of Department, Voter Education, Publicity, Gender and Inclusivity, on behalf of the Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Oluwatoyin Babalola, the exercise is aimed at assessing the commission’s operational readiness and testing the efficiency of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) ahead of the governorship poll. INEC said the exercise would simulate Election Day accreditation procedures but clarified that no voting would take place.   The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election. Oyebanji secured 319,224 votes to defeat his closest rivals and earn a second term in office. Opeyemi Akinyemi, Ekiti State  The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ambassador Dare Bejide, has alleged that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were distributing money to voters at Ward 2, Polling Unit 004, Oke Omieja, Ilawe-Ekiti.
