  The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election. Oyebanji secured 319,224 votes to defeat his closest rivals and earn a second term in office. According to the final results announced by the Returning Officer, Adenike Oladiji, the candidates polled as follows: APC – Biodun Oyebanji: 319,224 votes PDP – Olumayokun Oluyede: 40,533 votes ADC – Dare Bejide: 12,872 votes Declaring the result in the early hours of Sunday at the INEC headquarters in Ado-Ekiti, the Returning Officer stated that Oyebanji had satisfied the requirements of the law and was therefore duly elected and re-elected as Governor of Ekiti State. Opeyemi Akinyemi, Ekiti State  The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ambassador Dare Bejide, has alleged that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were distributing money to voters at Ward 2, Polling Unit 004, Oke Omieja, Ilawe-Ekiti. The incident caused a brief disruption at the polling unit before normal voting activities resumed.  Addressing journalists, Bejide said he arrived at the polling unit and met a peaceful atmosphere until the APC Vice Council Chairman allegedly arrived with a large sum of money. He claimed that they objected to the situation, insisting that she should not be distributing money to people at the polling unit. The Court of Appeal has suspended the execution of the judgment delivered by Justice Peter Lifu deregistering the ADC and four other political parties. In a brief ruling appellate court described the development as the highest form of judicial impertinence, stating that the trial judge brazenly disregarded the appellate court’s earlier order. The other parties affected are Actions People's Party, APP, Action Alliance, AA, Zenith Labour Party, ZLP and Accord Party, AP.  The order of the court subsists pending the determination of the appeal before it. The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Osun State, Dr. Najeem Folasayo Salaam, has urged members and supporters of the party to remain calm following a Federal High Court judgment reportedly ordering the deregistration of the ADC and some other political parties.
