  The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election. Oyebanji secured 319,224 votes to defeat his closest rivals and earn a second term in office. Opeyemi Akinyemi, Ekiti State  The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ambassador Dare Bejide, has alleged that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were distributing money to voters at Ward 2, Polling Unit 004, Oke Omieja, Ilawe-Ekiti. The incident caused a brief disruption at the polling unit before normal voting activities resumed.  Addressing journalists, Bejide said he arrived at the polling unit and met a peaceful atmosphere until the APC Vice Council Chairman allegedly arrived with a large sum of money. The Court of Appeal has suspended the execution of the judgment delivered by Justice Peter Lifu deregistering the ADC and four other political parties. In a brief ruling appellate court described the development as the highest form of judicial impertinence, stating that the trial judge brazenly disregarded the appellate court’s earlier order. The other parties affected are Actions People's Party, APP, Action Alliance, AA, Zenith Labour Party, ZLP and Accord Party, AP.  The order of the court subsists pending the determination of the appeal before it.
